Get your "Quilty" on!

Are you ready to get your "Quilty" on?

The Quilt Corner is hopping but we took a little time and made a schedule of events that will be so much fun!  Are you tired on Friday's?  Ready for something fun?  Starting on March 8th come find out why Friday's are Fabulous!  There's a demo of the new Bible Studies Block of the month (details in our event schedule) at 11:00 am ... weekly and then on the 1st and 3rd Friday there will be a demo at 1:00 followed by a class.  The demo is free, and the class is just $10!  Each project will be fun & simple.

Our beginner's class is a huge hit.  We've just about filled our March 18th class .... but no worries!  We have a class on Saturday's also & these classes continually repeat!

Oh, and lest I forget... MARCH 1st!  We've invited local designer, Connie Ewbank, for a trunk show of her best selling patterns.  Want to see the quilts?  We'll have a store full of them, plus Connie will be there from 10-12.  Come & show Connie some love!  We're so excited about this super fun event!

So, if you haven't visited our shop .... well, what are you waiting for?  I know some of you live out of town ... in a word (or two) ROAD TRIP!

Oh ... and speaking of Road Trip's... Aunt Mag is SUPER excited to be the Quilt Diva  on a Quilting Cruise ... Well, maybe not the Diva, but The Quilt Corner is a sponsor of the cruise and it's going to be a whole lot of fun, guaranteed.  One whole week away ... no phones, no computer ... wow!  That's even hard to imagine ... but it gets better!  We'll be Spoolin' on the High Seas!  With spools of thread of course!

Here's the link to download our latest Event flyer .... be sure and print it out & write the dates on your calendar so you don't miss out on one minute of FUN!

Aunt Mag's Quilting Adventure expands to a Genuine Quilt Shop!

And the Adventure Continues

If you had told me that today I would have a store (it's beautiful by the way) - I seriously would never have believed you .... but, now it's true!  I caught myself driving to work this week and said to myself "I have a store!"  :)

Now, the truth is that I've had a shop for quite a while now, but when the store is in your backyard and then the store is in a shopping center, well, that is a big difference.  My team is still pinching themselves.  We are all incredibly excited and I'm not sure it has fully sunk in for all of us.  Well, my checkbook has felt the reality ;)

We're busy changing so many things ... for me it's the commute ... Now, let me pause here to say that ALL of this is a blessing!  It's is a total gift from God, for which I am incredibly thankful.  We knew we had outgrown our little spot - and this move is His timing.  Having said all that - it is change!  Everyone knows change is, well, change.  So back to that commute . . . don't feel sorry for me (LOL!) it takes all of 4 minutes.  Not even long enough to finish my second cup of coffee along the way.  HA!  Only God could orchestrate a fabulous commute like that.  And it feels wonderful!!

Elaine Gilmore, Handi Quilter Educator with Margaret Chair
owner of The Quilt Corner
Next blessing:  The community of Central - the little town of 30,000 souls that I live in has been so supportive!  Seems it's been about 20 years since we had our very own quilt shop and the word is on the street!  Cell phones are buzzing!

So, we opened our store ... a HUGE step of faith and then, because quilters are a little crazy, we hosted our first event this weekend, less than 2 weeks after the move ... and I am so thankful to the quilters in the Greater Baton Rouge area and beyond for making our event a success.  We had a lot of fun with our HandiQuilter educator, Elaine Gilmore as we learned interesting ways to get those quilts finished.

We topped it off with a class on the Handi Quilter Pro-Stitcher - which was a resounding success.  Of course, we'll do this again.  It was fun and I'm sure that the quilters who attended still have all they learned spinning in their heads.

Now .... my fabulous team will have to get to work planning more great events, classes and just plain ole FUN for all who visit us!

What an adventure, right?

Summertime is a coming!

Just add sand, sun and surf!

Don't know about you but I think my favorite place to go is the beach.  There is just something about the sound of the surf, the warm sun & of course a good book!  It might not be beach time, but we have had the most fun in our shop this week!  Monday started off with a shipment of fresh fun fabric from Loralie Designs called "Hu-LaLa!"

Don't these fabrics just beg you to stitch up something just for FUN!  Customers all week have been saying I want to make a tote for the beach and we had a fabulous idea!  Look at our super cute Hu LaLa Tote bag!  We even made it into a kit!  Isn't it adorable?  I love the ladies (which are 6 very nice pockets by the way) adorning the outside.  The fabric we chose for our lining is flip-flops.  We just couldn't wait to load it up ....

And lo and behold ... It held everything to make a perfect beach trip ... lotion, a drink, e-reader and still plenty of room for a wrap, towels, and more!  We easily fit more than one towel in our bag!

It is so nice when a plan truly comes together!

Wishing you a Quilty sort of day.
