<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/415949715556502866/" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lcWPxJfa7hs/U-d_be6IofI/AAAAAAAAHQ4/LUwL717Gv5Q/s1600/blooming_gold.jpg" height="320" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So, what's a girl to do? Well, create one of course ... a quick search revealed that the original book, Traditions with a Twist is out of publication .... well, you can still get them, but since I would want to have them in my shop too I ran into an issue!<br />
<br />
Ok ... so, since you can just about find out how to do anything on the web it didn't take me too long to find some great instructions and off we go. <br />
<br />
Soooo..... I decided that for my 1st run at this I would design a little baby quilt using the fabulous line from Red Rooster called <a href="https://store.quiltcorneronline.com/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Store_id=799&Page_id=17&categ_id=276&parent_ids=0,2,203&name=Sweet+Dreams" target="_blank">Sweet Dreams</a> .... all those beautiful pastels just begged to be "bloomed!" Of course, many people made this quilt with flowers .... but the idea is that you have graduations of color ... and what a sweet soft little quilt using pastels .... Here's what I created in EQ using the fabric swatches ....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OFNTb6sQsZQ/U-eAaiUP2qI/AAAAAAAAHRE/XgpkxryW-Rk/s1600/Baby_bloom.BMP" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OFNTb6sQsZQ/U-eAaiUP2qI/AAAAAAAAHRE/XgpkxryW-Rk/s1600/Baby_bloom.BMP" height="320" width="288" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love it ...and it is going to be so soft and sweet! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, I did get my fabric .... and have been diligently working on this sweet creation .... here's some of my progress .... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qB67nD5BCC4/U-eNdGAzkOI/AAAAAAAAHSY/ez6aeyE2x7E/s1600/Baby_bloom2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qB67nD5BCC4/U-eNdGAzkOI/AAAAAAAAHSY/ez6aeyE2x7E/s1600/Baby_bloom2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The only issue with this particular fabric is that it is difficult to photograph the fabric with great results because they are so soft .... BUT, I am almost finished ... stay tuned for how I made this cute quilt and the plans for my next Blooming 9 Patch project.<br />
<br />
Wishing you a Quilty sort of Day!<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Aunt Mag is always getting lots of questions about <i>"what kind of batting should I use?</i>" Having tried many different battings and as a Longarm Quilter and having many different brands and types brought to us, I quickly realized that the batting makes the quilt!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It is important to always remember that your batting is the foundation of your quilt. What you put in the middle affects how it looks, handles & feels after it is used. With so many choices to make it is important to make an informed decision and quality does count. That is why <a href="http://www.quiltcorneronline.com/" target="_blank">The Quilt Corner</a> only carries Quilter's Dream Batting. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We have included a little information below about each type of batting we carry and what it is best suited for. So now you can say "I know what kind of batting I want to use!" Still undecided ... stop by the shop and feel the difference quality batting can made in your next project!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-XStYJWMV4YceyY89BB7x-FFdR7zuftQbtho3uILTJf4s0p_47_Mlidn3i3f8zlrCqpQ3yiVZan7sn-oyo6TD6132yzXpuuJ4-eW2-r5TODsMIhSwh3hPFUC8LZpn2be9xKlBcFe5CXU/s1600/Quilters+Dream+Batting+Block+Ad.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-XStYJWMV4YceyY89BB7x-FFdR7zuftQbtho3uILTJf4s0p_47_Mlidn3i3f8zlrCqpQ3yiVZan7sn-oyo6TD6132yzXpuuJ4-eW2-r5TODsMIhSwh3hPFUC8LZpn2be9xKlBcFe5CXU/s1600/Quilters+Dream+Batting+Block+Ad.png" height="640" width="494" /></span></a></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· <span style="color: #6fa8dc;"> </span></span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">Dream Cotton Batting</span></u></strong> – Dream Cotton continues to be the most popular batting of all! Dream Cotton is incredibly drapeable, beautifully soft, 100% natural, and quilts like butter! Available in four lofts, Dream Cotton is exceptional for all your quilting needs. Because of the natural, traditional fiber, Dream Cotton is recommended by the Restoration Society, but it is also great for today's modern quilts. We use a very high grade of USA cotton and the longest fibers in the industry. This is important because longer fibers mean minimal shrinkage, less bearding, and virtually no lint on your machine. The longer the fibers, the more places the fibers will intersect, making the batting so strong that you can stitch up to 8 inches apart! With our unique processing using no scrim, glues or binders, Quilters Dream Cotton remains soft, huggable, and beautifully drapey. Choose Request weight for hand quilting, Select for hand or machine quilting, Deluxe for machine quilting a heavy quilt, Supreme for machine quilting a very heavy quilt or craft projects.<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: magenta;">Dream Poly Batting</span></u></strong> - Available in Request, Select, and Deluxe weights, Dream Poly is made 100% from polyester microfibers. The poly microfibers mimic the cotton so you get the same look and feel of the cotton. However, it has the benefit of no shrinkage, so it is perfect if you want to keep that “just quilted” look, even after multiple washings. Dream Poly does not hold a crease, so you can fold it and store it (or ship it to a show) and not worry about lines or wrinkles when you take it out. The request and select lofts are light, breathable, and drape beautifully. The high loft, deluxe, is perfect for wall hangings that you want to lay flat without curling corners, and will shows off your stitches wonderfully.<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: orange;">Dream Blend for Machines</span></u></strong> – Note here that this batting is “for machines” – it has a light scrim, so you won’t want to hand quilt this batting. However, because of the scrim, it is very easy to handle and work with, so it has become an all time favorite for the long arm machine quilters. You can tug it into place without worrying about stretching or leaving hand prints. It is slightly heavier than the cotton or poly, but the scrim is so light that it still has a very nice drape.<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: #ea9999;">Dream Angel</span></u></strong> – If you are concerned about flame retardancy for your quilt, this is the batting for you, and as a bonus, this batting is wonderfully soft and drapey! Unlike most flame retardant products, this batting was NOT chemically dipped or treated – the batting fibers were specially engineered to be flame retardant. The fibers are inherently flame retardant so the flame retardant quality will never wash off. An excellent choice for baby quilts, dorm quilts, nursing home quilts, etc. (It is available in both Request and Select loft)<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: cyan;">Dream Wool</span></u></strong> – This is a very soft wool that is very breathable and light weight with a nice loft of about 1/3 - 1/2” to emphasize the stitches (or hide those slight piecing imperfections). It is thermally bonded, so can be machine washed and dried (on cool settings) without much shrinkage at all. More and more people are telling me that this is their favorite, both for hand or machine quilting; they’ve convinced me – I’m going to give it a try on my next quilt.<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: blue;">Dream Puff</span></u></strong> – This is another batting with a very nice 1/3-1/2" loft - just enough for a slightly "puffy" quilt. It is made 100% from poly microfibers, and, like the Dream Wool, it is thermally bonded to hold the loft without being scratchy or stiff. It is soft, breathable, and very affordable. Dream Puff is a great all around snuggly modern style batting for quilts. Layer the Dream Puff with a Dream Cotton for a perfect faux trapunto - the cotton will shrink slightly when washed making the Dream Puff really "pop"!<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: lime;">Dream Green</span></u></strong> – Could a batting from recycled bottles be soft and snuggly? I was skeptical, but Dream Green proved me wrong. This batting is exactly the same as Dream Poly select, with the exception that the fibers were once soda bottles, and it has a green tint of color! If you are eco-conscious and going green, this is the batting for you - each pound of Dream Green batting rescues 10 bottles from our landfills. You won't believe anything this soft, cozy, and breathable could come from recycled bottles, but it is true!<br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">· <strong><u><span style="color: #660000;"> </span></u></strong></span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><u><span style="color: #660000;">Dream Orient </span></u></strong>– This is the softest and silkiest batting available. It is made from a blend of silk, bamboo, cotton, and botanic tencel that is simply scrumptious to work with. Your finished quilt will absolutely hug you. Beware – this batting is highly addictive! </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin: 0in 0in 10pt 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>Now, the truth is that I've had a shop for quite a while now, but when the store is in your backyard and then the store is in a shopping center, well, that is a big difference. My team is still pinching themselves. We are all incredibly excited and I'm not sure it has fully sunk in for all of us. Well, my checkbook has felt the reality ;)</i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>We're busy changing so many things ... for me it's the commute ... Now, let me pause here to say that ALL of this is a blessing! It's is a total gift from God, for which I am incredibly thankful. We knew we had outgrown our little spot - and this move is His timing. Having said all that - it is change! Everyone knows change is, well, change. So back to that commute . . . don't feel sorry for me (LOL!) it takes all of 4 minutes. Not even long enough to finish my second cup of coffee along the way. HA! Only God could orchestrate a fabulous commute like that. And it feels wonderful!! </i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>Next blessing: The community of Central - the little town of 30,000 souls that I live in has been so supportive! Seems it's been about 20 years since we had our very own quilt shop and the word is on the street! Cell phones are buzzing!</i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>So, we opened our store ... a HUGE step of faith and then, because quilters are a little crazy, we hosted our first event this weekend, less than 2 weeks after the move ... and I am so thankful to the quilters in the Greater Baton Rouge area and beyond for making our event a success. We had a lot of fun with our HandiQuilter educator, Elaine Gilmore as we learned interesting ways to get those quilts finished. </i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>We topped it off with a class on the Handi Quilter Pro-Stitcher - which was a resounding success. Of course, we'll do this again. It was fun and I'm sure that the quilters who attended still have all they learned spinning in their heads.</i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>Now .... my fabulous team will have to get to work planning more great events, classes and just plain ole FUN for all who visit us! </i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>What an adventure, right?</i></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Just add sand, sun and surf!</span></h2>
Don't know about you but I think my favorite place to go is the beach. There is just something about the sound of the surf, the warm sun & of course a good book! It might not be beach time, but we have had the most fun in our shop this week! Monday started off with a shipment of fresh fun fabric from Loralie Designs called "Hu-LaLa!" <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkj0YEs_gjA/UQMreNoEz1I/AAAAAAAABQc/GANveyv73TU/s1600/loraliehulala.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="481" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkj0YEs_gjA/UQMreNoEz1I/AAAAAAAABQc/GANveyv73TU/s640/loraliehulala.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Don't these fabrics just beg you to stitch up something just for FUN! Customers all week have been saying I want to make a tote for the beach and we had a fabulous idea! Look at our super cute Hu LaLa Tote bag! We even made it into a kit! Isn't it adorable? I love the ladies (which are 6 very nice pockets by the way) adorning the outside. The fabric we chose for our lining is flip-flops. We just couldn't wait to load it up ....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uRGDuewQam4/UQMrmaNPEII/AAAAAAAABQ0/M4LnqBDEdc0/s1600/hulalatotekit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uRGDuewQam4/UQMrmaNPEII/AAAAAAAABQ0/M4LnqBDEdc0/s320/hulalatotekit.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And lo and behold ... It held everything to make a perfect beach trip ... lotion, a drink, e-reader and still plenty of room for a wrap, towels, and more! We easily fit more than one towel in our bag! <br />
<br />
It is so nice when a plan truly comes together!<br />

Aunt Mag's Quilty Adventureshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02482199713841756808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015391766179661681.post-41520078468364475282012-10-06T12:43:00.000-05:002012-10-06T12:44:02.849-05:00And the quilty adventures continue!These days one of the hardest things is finding the time to post regularly about what's going on in my "Quilty" world! Our humble quilt shop is very busy, and literally bursting at the seams with beautiful new fabrics - which is oh, so fun & and exciting. We have a closet literally full of quilts for the longarm - which is also exciting and a LONNNNNGGGG list of quilt samples to make & several block of the month programs in progress! All of this added us means Aunt Mag is one busy girl .... and it would seem slightly overwhelming (and truthfully it does at moments) except for one thing - I LOVE WHAT IT DO! It takes passion to work all hours of the day & night & still get excited about new projects.<br />
<br />
<h4>
<span style="color: #351c75;">So ... here's a few pictures of what we've been making, quilting & more ....</span></h4>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cBpIsEvBnUE/UHBhWaX6tkI/AAAAAAAABNA/dxlVgtgTOfE/s1600/blog_zippity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cBpIsEvBnUE/UHBhWaX6tkI/AAAAAAAABNA/dxlVgtgTOfE/s200/blog_zippity.jpg" width="178" /></a></div>
<h3>
<span style="color: #351c75;">Fun & Done!</span></h3>
This is a "Fun & Done" quilt! We have this adorable panel from Moda's popular Zippity Do-Dah in stock - and we were looking for something fun to do with it - this seasonal wall hanging is just perfect! And quilting it was the most fun of all ... The panel is at a bargain price and this is a great idea ... just add borders! Makes a super fun easy center for a QOV also! <a href="http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Store_id=799&Page_id=17&categ_id=45" target="_blank">Check out the panel here</a> with all the other great bargains on fabric!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CH0YWL__O8c/UHBhPxjbN3I/AAAAAAAABM4/wc8q91EwuqQ/s1600/blog+cuddle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CH0YWL__O8c/UHBhPxjbN3I/AAAAAAAABM4/wc8q91EwuqQ/s200/blog+cuddle.jpg" width="163" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And here's another "Fun & Done" ... Start with a panel - quilt it... Bind it ... In no time at all - Absolutely cute & adorable, soft & cuddly baby quilt! We put a kt together in our shop for this one ... it includes the panel, binding fabric & backing - for an incredibly great price. We have all the coordinating fabrics too if you want to make it a little bigger - or accessorize! <a href="http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Store_id=799&page_id=23&Item_ID=2907" target="_blank">More</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WxkpyknhWQ4/UHBiySedNgI/AAAAAAAABNY/Fb7BjhBm77k/s1600/blog+mondo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WxkpyknhWQ4/UHBiySedNgI/AAAAAAAABNY/Fb7BjhBm77k/s200/blog+mondo.jpg" width="115" /></a></div>
<h3>
<span style="color: #351c75;">Can you do the Mondo?</span></h3>
Now this bag was a super fun project! It is called "The Mondo Bag." You get an easy to follow pattern & enough fusible interfacing to make the bag & handles. You simply start with a small jelly roll and cut 2.5" squares (or you could use your stash). I used the fabric from <a href="http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_dept_items.asp?Store_id=799&Page_id=17&categ_id=167&parent_ids=0,2&name=Dragonfly+Magic" target="_blank">Dragonflies Magic </a>- a very popular design from Ro Gregg for Blank Quilting. There is lots of sparkle since every fabric in the line has metallic ... we've added a couple of great blenders to round the collection out - result - FABULOUS bag! This bag will be the one you take to guild with a quilt inside ... double show-and-tell!. Pattern & kit coming soon! <a href="mailto:info@quiltcorneronline.com" target="_blank">Email if you'd like to pre-order!</a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
<span style="color: #351c75;">Lastly ... a little quilting eye-candy!</span></h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0AVuEnDdDVo/UHBixNj3slI/AAAAAAAABNQ/HUaiJJUizwI/s1600/blog+bballq2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0AVuEnDdDVo/UHBixNj3slI/AAAAAAAABNQ/HUaiJJUizwI/s200/blog+bballq2.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-laeJgL9fwm8/UHBisJiJIlI/AAAAAAAABNI/BeytY0eF2U4/s1600/blog+bballq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-laeJgL9fwm8/UHBisJiJIlI/AAAAAAAABNI/BeytY0eF2U4/s200/blog+bballq.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The customer wanted basketballs & stars ... We used our ProStitcher & HQ Avante to do the work - just LOVE how the quilting finished on this one. The design is crisp & clean. Watch for more about this - we're really loving our new system & all the creative possibilities!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I must remedy that - immediately. Why a year and no posts? Well, it is because I bought a Quilt Shop and it has kept me beyond busy. Finally, after a year - yes, it is our anniversary, which is hard to believe - things are starting to fall in place. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9pJ0cO9wNUw/T8ealPE-2BI/AAAAAAAABHo/7VCgJv0RoK4/s1600/iphone+045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9pJ0cO9wNUw/T8ealPE-2BI/AAAAAAAABHo/7VCgJv0RoK4/s320/iphone+045.JPG" width="239" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My mother, Barbara, with her quilt</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Have I been quilting during this year? Well, maybe not as much as I'd like to. Have been busy with a lot of customer work and a personal project or two .... here is my biggest accomplishment this year. It is called <b>"Are the Stars out Tonight?</b>" I made this quilt for my mother's birthday. Did she love it? Well, it is in the #1 spot in her house and everyone who visits gets to see it - PLUS I convinced her to bring it with me to show a group I volunteer with - she was SO pleased to do that - and it was a hit! As a quilter, that is about the highest compliment we can be paid!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P50HkI2W6k4/T8eaypQzBYI/AAAAAAAABHw/zmsjVTQ6XN8/s1600/iphone+026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="149" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P50HkI2W6k4/T8eaypQzBYI/AAAAAAAABHw/zmsjVTQ6XN8/s200/iphone+026.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Here are some closeups of a few of the blocks & the quilting ....<br />
<br />
I love the border on this ... I will be using this sort of feather again!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-laMCFoW1LWE/T8ebcYge1_I/AAAAAAAABII/VZOH5oPA4uw/s1600/iphone+032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="149" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-laMCFoW1LWE/T8ebcYge1_I/AAAAAAAABII/VZOH5oPA4uw/s200/iphone+032.JPG" width="200" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Do you see the Butterfly hidden in this design? I love the way everything turned out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kTAo2Q5Gn6w/T8ebPYgAeJI/AAAAAAAABIA/Bve5ZrGY6Nk/s1600/iphone+030.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="149" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kTAo2Q5Gn6w/T8ebPYgAeJI/AAAAAAAABIA/Bve5ZrGY6Nk/s200/iphone+030.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-77WclTLXd5M/T8ea_W_6Y3I/AAAAAAAABH4/H8JwBK8ys9g/s1600/iphone+029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="149" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-77WclTLXd5M/T8ea_W_6Y3I/AAAAAAAABH4/H8JwBK8ys9g/s200/iphone+029.JPG" width="200" /></a> The fans were so much fun to quilt and they literally popped into 3d as I outlined them and added detail. How fund was that?<br />
<br />
Everyone loves the Machine Embroidered applique blocks & truly, they were a lot of fun to make!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j70aeDyeO4s/T8eb5NnR4VI/AAAAAAAABIc/dawlnuQ4Rzw/s1600/iphone+038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j70aeDyeO4s/T8eb5NnR4VI/AAAAAAAABIc/dawlnuQ4Rzw/s200/iphone+038.JPG" width="149" /></a></div>
Here is a good view of the quilting. The borders are scrappy! I saw this at a show at just HAD to finish my mom's quilt this way. I really had so much fun quilting this one! I think I really love doing sampler quilts!<br />
<br />
<br />
You can see how cool the border is and maybe the quilting. I love the bumpy feathers ... they are just perfect for this lovely quilt!<br />

<br />
Now, my quilt is in yet another scrap quilt contest, but I tell you, there are some real beauties on there. Go and vote at <a href="http://quiltinggallery.com/2011/04/15/vote-now-scrappy-quilts-2/">Quilting Gallery</a>.<br />

Click on her links to see the super scrappy version, isn't her (she says from ugly fabric) quilt just beautiful? Now I have my pattern & gonna start making those four patches! Here's the block and a link to the pattern: This is a great one to just do a little bit on every time I sit down at my sewing machine. Found my pattern at <a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/A/ArkansasCrossRoadsBlock.html">Quilter's Cache.com</a>. <br />
<br />
What's on the machine? Well, a secret project, super cute, but has to be revealed later. Just finished up a couple of adorable burp cloths from my second love - embroidery! What do you think? I will be selling these with the baby's name for $22.00.<br />

Quilt on a Mission!A couple of months or so ago I came across <a href="http://www.fabricsnquilts.com/">Fabric n' Quilts</a> <a href="http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_132734910115860&ap=1">Scrap Quilt Challenge</a> on Facebook. Since I had a scrap quilt in the works for quite some time and my scrap bins were literally bulging at the seams I decided, hey, why not enter the challenge. The quilt had to be completed by February 28th and I work really well under a deadline... so, game on!<br />
<br />
Well, let me tell you ... it was a challenge! When I started I needed 22 more 12" pineapple blossom blocks to complete the center and still had to decide how to frame it. It has been fun, but also work!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-TszuAgayG18/TX6UCXHiSaI/AAAAAAAAASs/X4Bi2jIl_Zo/s1600/IMGP9711.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="309" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-TszuAgayG18/TX6UCXHiSaI/AAAAAAAAASs/X4Bi2jIl_Zo/s320/IMGP9711.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Now, for an interesting wrinkle. While I was working on this I felt strongly impressed that this quilt is to be used to raise funds for a missionary friend who is about to return to Indonesia. End result... this is now a <b>Quilt on a Mission</b> and on March 30th some lucky person is going to win this gorgeous quilt and my friend, Christina, will have her much needed living expenses! (by the way, tickets are just $5 & you can let me know if you would like a ticket!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pgOxBd0qjdw/TX6UL-adQsI/AAAAAAAAASw/KTwKWSb8Kic/s1600/QUILT+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pgOxBd0qjdw/TX6UL-adQsI/AAAAAAAAASw/KTwKWSb8Kic/s320/QUILT+2.jpg" width="233" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Until next time!<br />

I have block #7 of Patchwork Party '09 cut out almost pieced. It will be finished today & then back to the Scrap Quilt! <br />
<br />
Looking back on last year, with all the customer work out of the house, sometimes it seems as if I didn't accomplish a whole lot... then I looked at the pictures.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTi0WB9C6kI/AAAAAAAAASI/GjQUxl3AfNY/s1600/DSC02710.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTi0WB9C6kI/AAAAAAAAASI/GjQUxl3AfNY/s320/DSC02710.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #20124d; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i>Lone Star Quilt ... Restoration Project</i></span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #20124d; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i><br />
</i></span></b><br />
Truly, this was the biggest quilting challenge that I worked on in 2010! A lone star block. The center was all I had to work with. It was <i>authentic 1930's</i> and was literally covered with tangled threads and in very poor repair... Some soul had decided to wash it and then folded it and put it away. It was entirely hand pieced and after working on it for a while discovered why it had never been completed. The only thing I'm sorry for is that I did not take a picture of it in it's pitiful beginning condition.<br />
<br />
After clipping all those thread clumps, I took an evening and repaired every split seam.... This picture is after the top was assembled. I hated to do it, but I had to take my rotary cutter to it to straighten it up (as best as possible) and then sew it in. Truthfully, this went better than expected.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTi1g-6Sa2I/AAAAAAAAASM/2lSV8PaaxWM/s1600/DSC02536.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTi1g-6Sa2I/AAAAAAAAASM/2lSV8PaaxWM/s320/DSC02536.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Setting Triangles</td></tr>
</tbody></table>After it was all assembled I took it to the longarm and decided that because I knew it was going to have some waviness to use two layers of batting (thanks to a dear friend's advice :).... one of puff and another of warm & natural. This worked! You could literally see the batting filling in the slack as I went along. Hope you enjoy seeing the finished quilt with some close ups of the quilting. I am truly very proud of the finished work on this one and I understand the recipient of this beautiful gift was quite pleased!!<br />

Have I been busy? Oh, yeah! Discovered a new love - for embroidery - but still enjoying my 1st love of quilting . Still dreaming of combining the two into a stunning quilt design. Alas, so many quilts to make, so little time, or so it seems. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">What's on your design wall? I just finished block 6 of the Patchwork Party Fall '09 quilt. It's gorgeous and yes, I am taking my time. Of course the last two months were a blur with no time for personal sewing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOMUXhVIlI/AAAAAAAAAQk/U6SHpfq_oL4/s1600/pp20096.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
<img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOMUXhVIlI/AAAAAAAAAQk/U6SHpfq_oL4/s200/pp20096.JPG" width="195" /></a><br />
Storm at Sea Block<br />
I do so plan to complete this beautiful quilt this year!!</div> <br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM6e6uUSI/AAAAAAAAAR4/EcCbXHcQBkc/s1600/scrap_pinapole.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM6e6uUSI/AAAAAAAAAR4/EcCbXHcQBkc/s200/scrap_pinapole.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM4vZKPwI/AAAAAAAAAR0/Dtqrxe-1KQU/s1600/scrap_fr_braid.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM4vZKPwI/AAAAAAAAAR0/Dtqrxe-1KQU/s200/scrap_fr_braid.JPG" width="40" /></a>Am also challenged by the <b>Scrap Quilt Challenge </b>to finish my scrap quilt that I started last year. Just did an inventory and I need 22 more blocks, so off to the scrap bin I go. With that many blocks to make I am SURE to make a dent in those ever populating scraps that I have so painstakingly cut and sorted!<br />
<br />
Update ... only 16 more to go! How bout this French braid for the borders? I love the way it gobbles scrap!<br />
<br />
Here's some pictures of things that I've made in the past few months. Will try to post only a few at a time. I had fun embroidering my gifts this year - but did some sewing & made an adorable quilted purse for my niece (which she loved!) If you don't know what to make for a 15 year old girl, I've got the perfect, simple (yes, super simple), but adorable project.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM1gN8VwI/AAAAAAAAARs/lutRqtKlYCY/s1600/purse1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM1gN8VwI/AAAAAAAAARs/lutRqtKlYCY/s320/purse1.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
Is this adorable? The flap is removable so you can have a whole wardrobe of flaps! It also has fabulous pockets on the back and on the inside. I'm definitely making one for myself!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM3gq7niI/AAAAAAAAARw/vks43Ev3DwM/s1600/purse2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOM3gq7niI/AAAAAAAAARw/vks43Ev3DwM/s320/purse2.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
This is the snappy little bag I made for my niece... only 7 x 10 & oh so cute!</div><br />
<br />
Duffle Bags ... these bags are HUGE & perfect for traveling!! My customer loves her bags so much, she keeps ordering more of them.... they make a fabulous personalized gift. Next one will be in Purple & Gold!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOMX0nJUzI/AAAAAAAAAQo/h-hx2xmXlAc/s1600/duffle1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOMX0nJUzI/AAAAAAAAAQo/h-hx2xmXlAc/s200/duffle1.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOMZk6cSxI/AAAAAAAAAQs/3z78oFLtb6U/s1600/duffle2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TTOMZk6cSxI/AAAAAAAAAQs/3z78oFLtb6U/s200/duffle2.JPG" width="200" /></a></div><br />
And the adventure continues in 2011! May your year be blessed and your joy overflow. May your hands find work that your truly love.<br />

Did I set out to go so long? No, I can assure you I had every intention of updating on at least a monthly basis, or more frequently. One of the hazards of getting older is that it seems they speed up time ... every day I rarely cease to be amazed at how fast the day flew by. Remember when you were a kid and the days just drug on and on and on? <br />
<br />
Well, I can say one thing and that is I have been very busy! One very large accomplishment - and a few smaller ones.<br />
<br />
Here's another baby quilt I made with Baby Einstein fabrics - just adorable! It was a gift & the parents just loved it. Again, the challenge is to make it 100% from my stash - which required a little creativity on the back, but the result is adorable!<br />
<br />

I had a lot of fun piecing this quilt & it sure to be enjoyed by the little boy it was made for!<br />
<br />
Pics below show block close-ups & you can see the quilting - which also was a lot of fun!<br />

</div><div>I'm still going to make a couple more, plus a few other harvest related items before moving on to just Christmas, but it sure has been fun! The pillow covers are made "sham" style so that they can be removed, washed & easily stored for next season. Goal? Set of pillow covers for each season. Sure is fun & so easy to do!</div><div><br />

If you had told me even six months ago that I could make a quilt in one week.... two quilts in less than two weeks I would have looked at you like you had tentacles coming out of your head. But, that is exactly what I did!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TER42Uh3pLI/AAAAAAAAAN0/5akuAsnxoa8/s1600/prayer+without+ceasing+062710.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TER42Uh3pLI/AAAAAAAAAN0/5akuAsnxoa8/s320/prayer+without+ceasing+062710.JPG" /></span></a></div><b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">PRAYER WITHOUT CEASING</span></span></i></b><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I wanted to make something for a friend for her birthday and was going to do something simple, like a table runner.. nice gift, right? Well, after praying about it I felt impressed that God wanted me to make her a prayer quilt. So... I found the perfect pattern. Just happened to have all the fabric in my stash (just happened to? there are certainly no coincidences with God!!) and ended up with this lovely quilt. It is called "Prayer Without Ceasing." Did she love it? Oh, yeah! It is a treasure and such a blessing.....</span><br />

Well, God wasn't finished with me, I was contemplating what to give my dear husband for his birthday. Once again, God had some serious plans for me. Make him a quilt! What? I have less than a week!!. However, I was thinking about what to do with all these lovely, super organized strips I have, and found a great pattern on </span><a href="http://www.quiltville.com/scrapbargello.shtml"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Quiltville </span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">for a scrappy bargello. Well, total scrappy is very hard for me to do - but between my stash & the 2.5" strip bin I had everything I needed to create the quilt. A friends stash (challenge - don't spend any $$) turned up the perfect backing and voila - a fabulous quilt. I amazed myself that I was able to literally complete this quilt in 4 days of sewing. Ok, I was seriously challenged, but found out I CAN do this! And, my stash is a little lighter. Oh, and my husband was absolutely ecstatic that I made a quilt FOR HIM! He travels a lot & this was just right for him to have a little "comfort" from home.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #274e13;">BABY CAMO??</span></i></b></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TESCvECEiBI/AAAAAAAAAPE/tINvqwHA65g/s1600/DSC02239.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/TESCvECEiBI/AAAAAAAAAPE/tINvqwHA65g/s200/DSC02239.JPG" width="200" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">On to the next challenge: A baby camo quilt! Well, my colorful, creative mind had a very difficult time wrapping baby and camo in the same sentence, let alone in a baby blankie.... Can anyone say S-T-R-E-T-C-H? So, I found a shop with lots of landscape and camo fabrics - but finding something suitable for baby.. well, I did find some nice fabrics & with the help of some creative friend's input was able to create this cute "Fence Rail Camo" quilt. It's not exactly camo, but it had the outdoors look & feel. The backing however, a great camo looking batik, was just perfect. So, the parents to be (and most importantly, the granparent's, a.k.a. the customer) were just delighted! Phew! Another challenge done!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

I fell in love with the Butterfly Fling panel & fabric collection the first time I saw it. It just sang out "little girl" and QUILT ME! I could just see those butterflies dancing on the fabric. When a customer asked me to make then a little girl "blankie" I practically jumped for joy! Not question what I was going to do - my stash had been waiting for the day....</span><br />

I hope you enjoyed this brief tour of my studio. I've got a ways to go making "personal" but that will come with time. As you can see there is ample room for storage & other machines. I have a desk, and tables for my serger & embroidery machine also. Lots of creativity happening in the studio.<br />

The colors are so cheerful & bright. this now graces my kitchen table and I tell you, it makes me smile every morning. The corner blocks are part of "Margaret's Insanity." Yes, I really went insane when I chose this design. I wanted to practice template work... well, with 54 pieces in each 9" block - I think I got my practice in!! Here's an up close of the quilting on the sunflowers & the rooster. Loved quilting the roosters tail!!</span><br />

<br />
I had the opportunity to take a piecing class from DeLoa Jones. This is her original pattern called "Rose Log Cabin." It still needs a couple of borders, but is lovely just as it is. I never realized that a day at a class could be like a mini-retreat! Especially when you're doing something you love & surrounded by folks who share your passion. Such a total blessing.<br />
<br />
Well, this is certainly not everything I've done in five months, but at least partly catches me up.... </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So, now I am back off to continue my Adventures in Quilting.</span>...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

End result... finished the baby quilt on the longarm, only lacks binding, but can't add the binding till I finish Bella Rosa. Status? Last border is cut and one side attached. There are 4 borders and only the last one remains. This is one of my least favorite tasks, especially for a quilt this large, so setting the goals and not allowing myself to proceed with anything else till it's done is what it takes to finish..... Okay, so it is Monday. The backing for Homestead Hydrangeas (my oldest UFO) is loaded on Maxine... well, nearly, anyway - closest it's ever been to actually being completed. LOL! </span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">So, for this week: </span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/S13Yb35XEXI/AAAAAAAAAIs/7YvFaCTrUZo/s1600-h/DSC01559.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/S13Yb35XEXI/AAAAAAAAAIs/7YvFaCTrUZo/s200/DSC01559.JPG" width="200" /></a><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"> << Bella Rosa one side with 4th border</span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">1. Finish Bella Rosa AND piece the backing so that it is ready for the longarm.... it can't be quilted right now as Maxine's new home is on hold for a couple of months. </span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">2. Quilt Homestead Hydrangeas</span><br />

</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">. . . and then to create a table topper from my stash.... :) Whoo hoo! Play time - so close!</span><br />

</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Okay, this means I'll have to really stay focused. I am determined that those borders will be done tonight! Maybe, just maybe, I'll get the Girl Scout Troop's QOV loaded before the week is done? </span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">An so continues my Adventures in Quilting,</span><br />

Of course, I hardly stopped to breathe during the last two months! My how the time does fly!!! On the other side of that coin I can look at how much I have accomplished during this time. So, my "blog-neglect" has been worth it! Truthfully, housework & PC went out the window - pared down to essentials - like food, which my hubby certainly appreciated... LOL! <br />
</span><br />
</div><div style="color: #20124d; font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
</div><div style="color: #20124d; font-family: inherit;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/Sz0cVXao9-I/AAAAAAAAAF0/AzA5W5uL8r8/s1600-h/DSC01480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/Sz0cVXao9-I/AAAAAAAAAF0/AzA5W5uL8r8/s200/DSC01480.JPG" /></a><span style="font-size: small;">Looking back - I finished 8 table runners, a table topper for Thanksgiving & completed 3 quilts. One t-shirt memory quilt as a sample, helped a friend make & complete a t-shirt quilt for Christmas and quilted it for her - it's a monster - finished king size! And the best part of all - I finished my Foolish Goose Tracks "Block-of-the-Month" Queen sized quilt for my son. It was his Christmas gift and was on his bed the same day. It is beautiful & he says he really loves sleeping under it! Oh, I nearly forgot .... I also played with my scraps and made three journal covers. They were SO much fun! I definitely plan to make more of those in the future.</span><br />
</div><div style="color: #20124d; font-family: inherit;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #20124d; font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"> This is the 1st of the 3 journals...</span><br />

This is the Foolish Goose Tracks quit completely finished. The quilting work came out just fabulous if I must say so myself!! I love this quilt and was quite a feeling of accomplishment when the last of the binding was stitched down! <br />
<br />
The images below are detail of some of the machine quilting.... took me a couple of day of hard work, but what a great feeling!<br />

I've been keeping myself quite busy and finished a couple of projects. Since I must be about Christmas, the 1st thing I did when I came back from vacation was to finish my "Fit to be Tied" table topper by <a href="http://www.pambonodesigns.com/SuperStore/SuperStore-product.asp?ProductID=5866">Pam Bono Designs. </a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuS3Dgz8aNI/AAAAAAAAAE8/lo1Krr0lCrc/s1600-h/DSC01355.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuS3Dgz8aNI/AAAAAAAAAE8/lo1Krr0lCrc/s320/DSC01355.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am very pleased with how my top turned out - it's very similar, except for the border & corners to the original color suggestions. I used some very different techniques that were quite complex, but by the end of the quilt were much easier. Don't you love the way the green looks like leaves?<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Just before we left I finished piecing a memory quilt. This is my sample that I will use to make them. What a wonderful way to use all those special t-shirts & commemorate events... This one used 12 blocks & I can make them up to 20 blocks. This was made it with my son's shirts and focused only on his high school years & football. <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuS88FtKD3I/AAAAAAAAAFE/XtKKMDbvlVA/s1600-h/DSC01357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuS88FtKD3I/AAAAAAAAAFE/XtKKMDbvlVA/s320/DSC01357.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Both of these items are next in line on the quiilting machine - as soon as I finish my next QOV.... here's a few pictures of the quilting on the last QOV I did... I machine quilt for QOV (Quilts of Valor). I really enjoy being a part of this program. Truly, I love the way the quilting work on this one... believe it was my best work yet!<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTAcK4uRpI/AAAAAAAAAFM/CZByDoIeW6U/s1600-h/qov+stars.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTAcK4uRpI/AAAAAAAAAFM/CZByDoIeW6U/s200/qov+stars.JPG" /></a><br />
You'll have to click on the images to really see the quilting.... I am pleased & so was the person I quilted it for... great feeling!<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTA-UCRLNI/AAAAAAAAAFU/aCBtgsLKgs8/s1600-h/qov+stars2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTA-UCRLNI/AAAAAAAAAFU/aCBtgsLKgs8/s400/qov+stars2.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTBg9RFrZI/AAAAAAAAAFc/tlMyomDd1lE/s1600-h/qov+stars1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTBg9RFrZI/AAAAAAAAAFc/tlMyomDd1lE/s400/qov+stars1.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTJvgYhv5I/AAAAAAAAAFk/buIxnpZDeIg/s1600-h/qov+stars+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuTJvgYhv5I/AAAAAAAAAFk/buIxnpZDeIg/s400/qov+stars+3.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I used a King Tut red, cream & blue varigated thread - I really love the way King Tut sews & looks! However, I must say Maxine doesn't like it... but we're learning to get along :)<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Okay, Maxine, as my longarm is affectionately known is loaded & waiting for me... one QOV down, then 2 (or 3, or 4) personal projects!! <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Until next time.... <br />
</div>Aunt Mag's Quilty Adventureshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02482199713841756808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015391766179661681.post-83788857894300658952009-10-22T19:55:00.000-05:002009-10-22T19:55:05.136-05:00Adventures in the Ozarks!I will pause my adventures in quilting for a family reunion & some much needed R&R....<br />
<br />
We spent the last week in the Ozarks traveling 1st for a family reunion in Stilwell, OK and then a little R&R .... in Eureka Springs, AR. Eureka is a unique town and had been nearly 20 years since I went that way. Interesting, because not much has changed. The only real bummer was that it rained, no poured, every day we were gone. When it wasn't pouring, it was misting and chilly. We also missed the glorious full fall foliage by one week... but can't control family reunions unless you're planning them - LOL!<br />
<br />
The BIGGEST surprise were the gifts from my husband RW's family - he is better know as "Joe" amongst them. His sister-in-law, Jean, presented him with a photo album with pictures from the past 50 years or so. This was a huge gift that really touched his heart as he has very, very few pictures from his lifetime.<br />
<br />
Here's his brother & two of his sisters - one didn't make it. They are Cherokee.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuCDKM1n5pI/AAAAAAAAAEs/wPAOZlNEs8g/s1600-h/DSC01233.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuCDKM1n5pI/AAAAAAAAAEs/wPAOZlNEs8g/s400/DSC01233.JPG" /></a><br />
<i>From bottom left Margaret & George and then top - RW "Joe" & Katie</i><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"> <br />
</div><br />
Joe was also given a nice gift basket from his sister with a print for our home & other goodies, plus some locally made beaded jewelry for myself.... but the piece de' resistance was a quilt that was made by his mother, more than 50 years ago. We both had tears in our eyes over this. It was an an answer to prayer! His sister, Katie, realized that we did not have one of "momma's quilts" and wanted us to have one. She let us choose - and this is the one we picked.... I just love it - and you can be sure, it may be old, but it will be used & loved as it has been already for many, many years!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuB-ZU9gJNI/AAAAAAAAAEk/rlnZH5pRcBw/s1600-h/DSC01344.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuB-ZU9gJNI/AAAAAAAAAEk/rlnZH5pRcBw/s640/DSC01344.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This quilt is completely hand pieced - all little diamond shapes... the blocks that look white are actually fabric that has completely lost its color. Every piece (look between the stars to see the shape of the blocks) is the same one. Look how she finished the edges. It is a scrap quilt completely in the traditional sense. Joe's sisters were looking at it and remembering their dresses & "Granny's" dresses that it was made from. I can see a few men's shirts too.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It is hand quilted in the Baptist Fan design. Joe says that is how his mother quilted every one of her quilts. I'm not so sure about that, but I do know that was her favorite quilting design. Interestingly enough - she apparently did NOT like hand stitching down the binding, so it is machine sewn.... Well, we have good company there! Except for a few tatters here & there, the quilt is soft cuddly and in incredibly good shape. <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuCLlrXUp-I/AAAAAAAAAE0/svGVwb9pOFY/s1600-h/DSC01258.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_c0070OGn8kU/SuCLlrXUp-I/AAAAAAAAAE0/svGVwb9pOFY/s320/DSC01258.JPG" /></a>Now, we're heading down the road & ended at this charming B&B... fabulous breakfast!<br />
<br />
Here's a little bit of my story. I actually lived just north of Eureka Springs, Arkansas for about 2.5 years, about 20 years ago. I actually worked in Eureka at a little bitty hospital that is still there and has not changed at all... Can't grow, no place for it to go - but it does serve a need in the community.<br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">It was lovely to be in Eureka in spite of the downpour & constant misty rain. Highlight of the trip? Couples massage at the Cresent Hotel & then gourmet Mexican dinner.... absolutely incredible! </div>Aunt Mag's Quilty Adventureshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02482199713841756808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015391766179661681.post-5612168158592412822009-09-28T00:11:00.000-05:002009-09-28T00:11:21.709-05:00Adventures in QuiltingAnd so the journey continues... <br />
<br />
Working on some new & exciting things - Have the 1st block done in the Pam Bono "Fit to Be Tied" table topper....It's gorgeous, but man it's a lot of piecing. Okay, had to stop to piece a T-Shirt Quilt and help a friend do the same....know anyone who would like a memory quilt? Pic SOON! Will post when done. Have to say it's just looking fabulous!<br />
<br />
